Praise!
Happy Monday!
It is a beautiful sunny day!
We are half way through November and there has been no snow yet!
The tea pot is on
The kitty is playing with the white Christmas tree that is sitting (not yet decorated) but up, in the middle of my living room.
The to do list for the day looks like an unruly road map 🙂
But first, some time with the Lord.
How do you start your day?
In a rush and a panic
Too much to do and too little time?
The Lord is waiting on you
The Lord is waiting to sit with you and to speak into your life
Yes, the first thing this morning
Yes, in the midst of the chaos of getting ready and getting out the door
He has a Word of peace and love to calm your frazzled spirit
He will redeem the time you spend in His Presence
Try Him and find Him to be true.
The Lord spoke to me in Church yesterday with regard to the passage the Pastor was preaching on. An interesting thought He brought to my mind.
1 Kings 19:3-4
And when he saw that, he arose and ran for his life, and went to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there. But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he prayed that he might die, and said, “It is enough! Now, LORD, take my life, for I am no better than my fathers!”
Elijah ran for his life, into the wilderness and prayed for God to take his life. He was fearful and discouraged and weary. It is a well known story. While in the wilderness God provides for Elijah, gives him food and water and allows him to sleep before taking him farther into the wilderness for an encounter with Him. As we read this passage God pointed out to me that when Elijah ran for his life he ran to Beersheba which belongs to Judah. Why is that important? God pointed out the word JUDAH to me and whispered – that means praise!
The Lord whispered, “if you are going to run, run to me, run to me in Praise and Worship – lay down your circumstances at my feet and lift up your head and hands and heart in praise. I have taken you from the Fowler’s snare, I have set your feet upon a rock, you will not be moved…….run to me.”
The Word tells us that The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, Psalms 37:23. God knew where Elijah was headed even as he ran. And God’s Word says that he ran to the area of Judah.
God attended to him there and the led him 40 days and 40 nights to the mountain of God where he spoke to Elijah. He spoke, not in the wind, not in the earthquake but in a still small voice. And Elijah opened up and shared his heart with the Lord and the Lord encouraged Him there and showed him the next steps.
Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the LORD.” And behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.
1 Kings 19:11-12
Run to the Lord today.
Start with 10 mins of praise and worship
In the midst of the chaos
The busyness
The rush
Pause,
Lift up your heart and begin to thank Him
Worship Him not only for what He has done for you but for who He is
Now, allow Him to lead you to that quiet place in Him
The place where He will meet with you
Listen to your heart
And speak into your spirit.
Now, go forth and live the abundant life you are called to.
My prayers for you today:
Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work.
2 Thessalonians 2:16-17
Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ.
2 Thessalonians 3:5
But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good.
2 Thessalonians 3:13
Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all.
2 Thessalonians 3:16
