In the Dry Places
Strengthen the weak hands,
And make firm the feeble knees.
Say to those who are fearful-hearted,
“Be strong, do not fear!
Behold, your God will come with vengeance,
With the recompense of God;
He will come and save you.”
Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened,
And the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
Then the lame shall leap like a deer,
And the tongue of the dumb sing.
For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness,
And streams in the desert.
The parched ground shall become a pool,
And the thirsty land springs of water;
In the habitation of jackals, where each lay,
There shall be grass with reeds and rushes.
Isaiah 35:3-7
It has been a dry week
A week of wondering
And doing the best one can with what one has
Knowing in the depths of your spirit
That it will all be ok
But sitting in the midst of the dryness that comes
The dryness of heart and spirit
That place where you just long for some refreshing cold waters.
And then the rain comes
Showers of blessings
Showers of refreshing
Cool water that takes away the heat of the desert.
Isaiah 35 promises waters that will burst forth in the wilderness
Streams in the desert
Cooling and refreshing for our hearts and souls
So much so that we can strengthen those weak hands and those feeble knees
The weakness that comes in the dryness.
Furthermore we are directed to “Be strong, do not fear!”
This day may be dry
But the miracle is coming
And waters, fresh waters, living waters
Will flood our wilderness experience.
John 7:38 offers even more hope:
“He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”
Belief and faith in Jesus allows/causes rivers of living water to flow within us and out of us
at all times
even in the midst of the dry places.
Refreshing us from within
And offering refreshment to those around us.
Are you in a dry place today?
Call out to Jesus
He is waiting to answer you
To comfort and sustain you
And to fill you with living waters!
