But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart
Luke 2:19
Happy Wednesday!
A bit of a dark day here in Porter’s Lake
But every now and then the sun breaks through in a brilliant display of light!
The holiday season is upon us and the big day is fast approaching
This morning involved turkey cooking and presents wrapped in brightly colored paper
Nico the cat was very helpful of course
(with the presents, not the turkey!)
And as I was busily moving on with my day
The Lord spoke gently in my ear and asked
What about Me?
What about Me?
Do you have time to sit with Me today?
Such a gracious Lord we serve
One that loves us with an unending and wonderful love
One that does not come in condemnation
But quietly in love
Calling us aside to time with Him.
When we think back to the original Christmas story-
Imagine Mary
How busy, chaotic her life was
Pregnant, dealing with the consequences of that pregnancy
Travelling to Bethleham
Giving birth
Being visited by Shepherds
Tired, excited, fearful
So much going on.
But we read:
But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart
Luke 2:19
Mary took time to tuck away the things of the Lord in her heart
To contemplate, to ponder, to think on those precious things
She didn’t rush on without thinking about all that was going on around her
She pondered.
Have you taken any time to ponder the wonderful, miraculous birth of the Saviour this Christmas Season?
Have you paused in the midst of the gift buying, wrapping, decorating, baking, visiting
And visited with this precious Saviour
Sat in His presence and listened to His heart for you?
If not
Today is the day.
After all, if you had forgotten, He is the ONLY reason for the Season.
Be blessed, be a blessing
The LORD your God in your midst,
The Mighty One, will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.
