Heritage Day
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have
everlasting life. John 3:16
No weapon formed against you shall prosper,
And every tongue which rises against you in judgment
You shall condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD,
And their righteousness is from Me,”
Says the LORD.
Isaiah 54:17
Happy Heritage Day!
A holiday in February…..
How long we have waited for this.
It is a beautiful day here in Porters Lake
Sun shining
Snow sparkling
Refreshingly cold
Kind of winter day.
The tea is flowing
Books are out and scattered around
There is a laid back feel to the morning.
Nico and John are on either ends of the couch
One reading and one napping.
A homemade soup and biscuits kind of day
Maybe a quilting and crocheting kind of day.
Or perhaps a curl up with a book and hot chocolate kind of day.
So what is heritage day anyway?
Other than a holiday in February?
It is a day on which we honor those who have come before and laid various foundations in our province.
Full Gospel had a “Heritage Hymn Sing” at Church last night
A time to reflect not only on the person that the Province has chosen to honor for this year
But more importantly a time to reflect on our Christian heritage.
We sang great hymns of the faith and reflected on what the Lord has done for us.
What has the Lord done you ask?
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16
Such love, that the Father would give up His only Son, for our sin, that He might reconcile us again to Himself.
Do you know this love? Is this part of your heritage?
It is never too late to build this heritage.
The Word tells us today that:
That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9
The Word says “now is the day of salvation”
Not tomorrow,
Not next week
Not when I get myself together
Not when I fall further apart
But today.
Today on this Heritage Day
Will you take a step in a new direction
And begin to build a new heritage
For yourself
For your family
For your children.
Open up the Word of God
Find the Father there
Waiting for you
Call upon the Son
Begin to walk in relationship
And seek the direction of the Holy Spirit.
Build a heritage that will guide you into eternity.
