Great is Your Faithfulness
Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.

Friday morning
Another day of moments in this unexpected journey
Yesterday late in the day I took to the beach
Sand in my toes
Sea glass in my pocket
Waves loud in my ears
Drowning out the noise in my head
Open for a Word from the heavens
A Word of comfort and peace
A Word of explanation if you will
No Word came
But an explainable peace washed over me
As though surrounded within and without
By the crashing waves
And as I picked up tiny piece after tiny piece of white sea glass
The Father said, “They are just like tear drops”
“My teardrops gathered with your tear drops,
gathered with the tear drops of many others”
“We grieve together,
never in a vacuum,
never alone,
never in vain.”
And so this morning
Once again
We rise
Square our shoulders
Link our arms
And prepare for the day ahead
Garnering peace, just like little pieces of sea glass
And the assurance
That the faithfulness of God is new every morning
And that the tears of Jesus mingle with our own
Even now.
Great is Thy faithfulness
“Great is Thy faithfulness,” O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.
“Great is Thy faithfulness!” “Great is Thy faithfulness!”
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
“Great is Thy faithfulness,” Lord, unto me!
Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
