The Day After the Day After
Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the LORD,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.
.He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall,
.But those who wait on the LORD
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:28-31
And we find ourselves
On the morning after
The day after the day after
And we wonder how we got here.
The months
And weeks
And days
Are a blur
And the question is
Now what?
Where do we go from here?
I returned home yesterday
Flowers in my garden blooming
Flowers I never planted in full flower
Flowers I’ve been waiting on, ready
Sunset
And moon rising
And life moves on
And so
We square our shoulders
Link our arms
Raise our heads
Open up our hearts
And unclench our hands
Once again
To receive
To love
To live
All the while
Inclining our ears
To the Lord
Who will give us direction
Moment by moment
Day by day
For thus says the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel:
“In returning and rest you shall be saved;
In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.”
Isaiah 30:15
Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying,
“This is the way, walk in it,”
Whenever you turn to the right hand
Or whenever you turn to the left.
