Thanksgiving!

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16, 17

Happy Thanksgiving!
What a glorious day
A day set aside to count our blessings
Celebrate with family
To take time to reflect on the goodness of the Lord.
Came across this verse this morning
Looked up the original Greek to flesh it out a bit:
Be cheerful, thankful (well off) at all times; worship, pray earnestly, without interruption; give thanks (eucharisteo)/active gratitude, in all manner of things.
It is a very active verse, be……pray……give……actively
This verse tells me that although it is nice to set one day aside for thanks
Actual thanksgiving is about
Active and participatory thanks
Every day
Without ceasing or interuption
In/for all manner of things.
What do you have to be thankful for today
This very day?
For many of us it is easy to list off the things we are thankful for.
But……what about on the days where things have gone sideways
Or when life seems to be a struggle
When you look around and all seems lost?
Are we able to be list our blessings in those moments as well?
To worship the Lord
In the midst of the struggle?
That is true thanksgiving!
Because regardless of what we are going through
Regardless of where we are in life
Regardless of what is going on
We are a most blessed people.
No matter what the circumstance
Or what I see in the natural
At the end of every day
I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt
That through the love of Jesus Christ
I am no longer what I used to be
I am saved, sanctified and redeemed
And growing everyday in grace!
For that alone I am thankful!
